Shillington Technical advances, however, provided a steady stream of improvements leading to increased popularity and lower prices. Along the way, projectors have branched off onto three distinct pathways. Some projectors boast 4K definition and are bright enough to light a screen even during the sunniest of days. While these devices are expensive, they can easily replace a television. The second group is composed of projectors featuring a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Their price range is much more reasonable, but because their output is not as bright, these devices are best used during the evening and at night. They provide impressive performance but cannot completely replace a television. Portable and mini projectors represent the final group. While the device I’m reviewing today boasts a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, many are not as capable. These projectors are generally less bright but smaller and can be set up quickly. They are ideal for bedroom use and can be easily carried around and placed anywhere within or outside the house.

Resolution
Native resolution refers to the projector’s fixed horizontal and vertical pixel count. This projector enjoys a native resolution of 1920 x 1080p, which is also referred to as Full High Definition. Shillington Shillington Shillington The picture definition is partially determined by the media being played. A movie streamed at 1024 x 768p is projected at the same resolution even though the projector is capable of FHD.
Brightness
The brightness of projectors is calculated in either LUX or ANSI lumens. The Leisure 470 Pro is capable of outputting 170 ANSI lumens. This is sufficient for operations in low light conditions. Shillington Shillington
Contrast
Contrast refers to the ratio of the light reflected from a completely white image and a completely black image. The higher the contrast ratio, the more perceivable detail is projected. The Leisure 470 Pro’s contrast ratio is 600:1, which means a projected white image is 600 times brighter than a projected black image. Shillington Shillington
Keystone Correction and Focus
The keystone effect is the apparent distortion of an image caused by projecting it onto an angled surface. Shillington Shillington This projector can correct vertical distortion of up to ±15 degrees digitally via the internal LCD panels of the projector. Horizontal distortion is alleviated by positioning the projector so that its lens is perpendicular to the center of the screen. The Leisure 470 Pro can be manually focused by turning a dial directly above the lens.
Sound and Speakers
This device is fitted with a 3-watt internal speaker. It is reasonably loud, and although the speaker does not have the range to reproduce music correctly, it does a decent job with voices. Shillington Shillington Since I am presently testing the new Tribit 90W Stormbox Blast, I connected an audio cable between the projector and speaker. The resulting sound proved to be incredibly good. A decent external speaker will be an excellent accessory if you desire theatre-level sound with this projector.
Inputs and Outputs
The Aux 3.5mm output is used to provide sound to an external speaker. Inputs include a TF card slot, an AV connection, a USB port, and two HDMI inputs. This projector can also mirror whatever a wi-fi-connected smartphone is playing. Please note, however, that streaming services such as Netflix do not allow their content to be mirrored. I plugged my Roku streaming stick into the projector’s USB port and one of the HDMI inputs. Once I turned on the Leisure 470 Pro, it quickly loaded and automatically selected the Roku. Even better, the Roku remote could adjust the projector’s volume and turn it off when I was finished for the night. This is the most Roku-compatible projector I have ever tested.
Positioning the Projector
If this projector were used permanently in a specific room, it would be best to mount it from the ceiling. This ensures the projector’s focus and keystone adjustments need only to be set once. Shillington If the Leisure 470 Pro is expected to be utilized in a variety of locations, it might be best to mount it on a large telescopic tripod. The Leisure 470 Pro’s projected image filled my 100-inch screen when positioned approximately eight feet from my dining room wall. The remote control can be used to decrease the size of the projected image, in one percent steps, to as low as 50 percent. This ability is helpful in certain situations.
Brightness Test
In the middle of the afternoon, I turned off the lights and closed my dining room drapes. Then I projected a movie onto a 100-inch screen. The image was discernible but severely faded. Shillington Later that evening, as the sun dropped low on the horizon, I tried again. The image was much brighter, and the movie could be enjoyably watched. Once it became completely dark, I watched another movie. At this point, the screen was quite bright, and I could almost believe I was sitting in a theater. All that was missing was the popcorn.
Overall Impression
This projector’s resolution is excellent, brightness is fair, and contrast is acceptable. Its sound, however, is best aided by an external speaker. I especially appreciated the ability to use its remote to adjust the size of the projected image. Shillington The Leisure 470 Pro presents good value and, due to its small size, provides the flexibility to use it in a variety of situations. However, if the intention is to permanently mount this projector in one room, a full-sized unit such as the Vankyo Leisure 495W would be preferable. These larger projectors are often Bluetooth capable and boast additional features such as compatibility with Dolby. The Vankyo Leisure 470 Pro Projector is recommended for those looking for a small projector versatile enough to use in various locations.
